This class is for dog-friendly and people-friendly dogs who are already familiar with the basics and want to get ready for the Holidays!
WHAT WE WILL COVER
Setting your dog up for success before guests arrive.
When to use management to prevent unwanted behaviors.
Politely greeting guests (no jumping!) in your home (or how to help your dog get space if they are shy).
Go to settle mat/bed and "stay".
"Leave it!"
A fun trick to show off!
Instructor: Michelle Martens, CTC, '08 honors graduate of the Academy for Dog Trainers
Number of sessions: 2
Frequency and Duration: 50 minutes per week on Tuesdays from October 13 to 20
Time: 6:30 p.m. - 7:20 p.m.
Venue: Jeffrey’s North Beach (1841 Powell Street, San Francisco)
REQUIREMENTS
4 months old & above
Dog must have completed Puppy Basics or a similar introductory GROUP course here or at another puppy training facility. No exception.
Dog must have been in your home for AT LEAST 10 days prior to the first meeting.
Your dog must be FULLY vaccinated AT LEAST 7 days prior to the first meeting.
Bordetella (Kennel cough) and Canine Influenza Virus H3N2/H3N8 vaccines recommended, but not required. Please consult your veterinarian.
Your dog must not attend class wearing a slip, shock, choke or prong collar. Flat collars or harnesses ONLY.
This course is not appropriate for fearful, aggressive, or reactive dogs or dogs who bark excessively. Owners of dogs who exhibit signs of these issues are encouraged to seek out private training.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Your tired and hungry dog on a harness or a flat collar (No prong, choke or shock collars are allowed)
A 4-6 foot lead (No flexi-leash or extending leash)
Lots of small high-value training treats
A mat/bed/towel to teach them "go to mat!" (a new mat they have not used is often recommended)
